Oliver Brown

 

Oliver Brown was born on March 29, 1776 in Chatam, Colombia County, New York. He was the son of Benjamin Brown, Sr. and Sarah Case.

He married Sarah Wiltse in 1802 in Leeds County. Sarah was the daughter of John Wiltse.

They moved to Canada about 1800.

In 1805 they were living in Elizabethtown (now Brockville), Leeds County, Ontario,

About 1816, they returned to the United States with his brothers, Daniel and Jonathan.

Oliver died on November 16, 1862 in Albion, Orleans County, New York.

Brockville, Ontario was called Elizabethtown. The area was first settled by English speakers in 1785, when Americans who had remained loyal to the crown fled to Canada after the American Revolution.
